As being a product of Popuband company, Populele is the world’s first smart ukulele combined with high technology elements. Populele is a concert sized (15 inch length), laminate ukulele with the traditional double boot. Like the traditional ukuleles, Populele has a 35mm nut with a 8.5mm space at the 1st fret. Its saddle is removable and is not compensated.
The Populele has two oval-shaped sound holes, a brown “bottom” and a 72 LED fretboard, which can be controlled by either iOS or Android smartphones via the companion application. The application uses Bluetooth technology in order to show how the players can perform their favourite songs exactly, along with the quick and helpful guide to the beginners.
The Populele also offers several modes and functions to achieve the high “satisfaction” of the performers and beginners. Game mode’s designed for beginners to allow them to learn playing the ukulele without getting bored. Game mode gives the instant feedback when the player plays incorrectly with sound-responsive technology.
Dazzle mode, which is also sound-responsive, lights up the intervals between frets for entertaining ukulele jamming sessions. Chord library is a guide that shows instructions to the player about correct finger positions. The performers can also design their own pattern to light up onto the fretboard, thanks to the Shining Lights feature.
To start to play the Populele immediately, two simple actions should be made: the first step is to turn on the Populele from the button on it. Then, open the application on your phone and connect the Populele to your phone via Bluetooth. Finally, you are ready to play Populele. It is also possible to record the performances with built-in recording option in the application.
There are several offers and different package options to buy the Populele from the website IndieGoGo. As the Populele has been introduced recently, IndieGoGo sells the Populele (just itself without being in a package or having any companion accessories with it) an “early bird” price of $159, which it normally costs $199.
